Ward's sold these rifles in the late 1950's which were apparently built in the High Standard company plant, possibly by a contractor called the Jefferson Rifle Company. The rear sight band and front banded sight are hallmarks of this company's products. The stock is nicely checkered American Walnut. Stock has several light scratches, and has a small chip missing from the toe. This would be best corrected by simply cutting and adding a pad to restore the proper LOP. The Sako L57 action is identical to those used on production Sakos and has a 5-round internal box magazine. Condition of the bluing is excellent. The Leupold M8 4X scope is mounted in Millett rings. A hard to find example of a high quality proprietary Sako marketed by an American retailing icon.
