Sako L579 Heavy Barrel .243 Very Early!
This is one of the lowest serial numbers we've ever seen on an L579, particularly in the scarcer Heavy Barrel model. We sold this exceedingly nice gun to a repeat customer who traded it back on an early Deluxe Sako, and we're delighted to be able to offer it to the market again. It's very early features include front sight (not often seen on the HB model), half-moon floorplate release, grooved bolt shroud, and tightly curved bolt handle. Along with the light blond stock, this makes it a sterling example of the early L579's which were transitioning from the predecessor L57's. Condition is excellent for a near-60 year-old rifle, with clean bore, nice blue, and very few stock dings (bottom side of buttstock in front of swivel shows the most use). The Bofors-marked barrel is 23.75 inches and the magazine hold 5 round down. A great find for enthusiasts of early Sakos.
